It is widely cultivated in parts of India, especially in Bihar, which is one of the largest producers of Makhana in the world. Foxnuts / Phool makhana are round, white, soft, and crunchy seeds that pop when processed, similar to popcorn. They are harvested from lotus ponds, dried, roasted, and then popped to create the edible form which we consume.
