6 Famous Places in India for  Holi Celebration

These twin cities are the cradle of the childhood of Lord Krishna and are, therefore, the most famous places for Holi celebrations in India. 

Barsana, near Mathura, is famous for its Lathmar Holi where women chase men with sticks. It is believed that this dance form is an imitation of Krishna's playful interactions with Radha.

The Pink City of Jaipur celebrates Holi with all the color and glory. The magnificent ceremonies that take place in the royal city are the cause of the tourists from all over the world to visit it.


Shantiniketan, West Bengal 

Here Holi is celebrated as Basanta Utsav or Vasanta Utsav, that is, the Spring Festival. Students dressed in brightly colored costumes, dance and sing Tagore's songs. 

Anandpur Sahib,  Punjab

Holi as 'Hola Mohalla' is celebrated in Anandpur Sahib which falls in the time of the Sikh festival of Hola Mohalla. It is the festival of Sikhs where they show their strength in different martial arts.


Although Goa is famous for its beaches and parties, one can enjoy the Holi festivities in beach areas such as Anjuna, Vagator, and Palolem.
