These twin cities are the cradle of the childhood of Lord Krishna and are, therefore, the most famous places for Holi celebrations in India. 

Barsana, near Mathura, is famous for its Lathmar Holi where women chase men with sticks. It is believed that this dance form is an imitation of Krishna's playful interactions with Radha.
