Redness, itching, sticky eyes, and puffy eyelids are the symptoms of this flu. Bacterial infection of the eyes can generate yellow or green discharge. Medicine or eye drops can not provide instant relief for viral conjunctivitis. It normally gets better in 1-2 weeks.

Symptoms of Conjunctivitis (Eye Flu):

  • Redness and Irritation: Redness occurs in the white part of the eye, and is usually accompanied by irritation and itchiness.
  • Excessive Tearing: If you’re tearing up more than usual, it could be a sign of conjunctivitis. Excessive tearing is the body’s way of trying to flush out the infection.
  • Discharge: An infected eye may produce a watery or thick, yellowish or greenish discharge. This discharge can crust over, especially during sleep.
  • Sensitivity to Light: Conjunctivitis can cause light sensitivity, making it uncomfortable for people to be in bright environments.
